This Service is developed with user privacy as a main concern. As a user of this Service you will be part of a community or panel of users with similar interests, profiles or preferences. Each panel or community is owned and funded by one or more of our clients, or by Encount only. The identity of these clients will be revealed to you, and you may be part of one or more such panels or communities should you choose to accept invitations to join. The information you provide through this Service will be collected and analyzed by Encount, and shared with our clients on an aggregate and anonymous level only, in such a way that your identity will not be revealed (such as for example a statistical report). You will be rewarded in various ways for participating and providing us with answers and information. The information you provide will be used to give you relevant rewards, offers and invitations to activities. This Service is for the purpose of market research, opinion polling, customer involvement and customer communication and we will never sell or allow access to the Service and your information to any parties with a primary purpose of selling or marketing. All activities are voluntary and you can choose to end your participation at any time and require that all your information be permanently deleted.
Children should always be careful about any information they share via the internet and should always get parents permission before doing so. This Service is not available for users under the age of 15. We will not knowingly allow anyone under the age of 15 to share information with us or participate in our activities on this Service, unless they have express written permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Any information we collect from you through this Service will be collected and managed by Encount and stored on our behalf on servers provided by Digital Ocean Inc. and Amazon Web Services Inc., servers which we have full control over and are protected with state-of-the-art security systems. Our agreements with Digital Ocean and Amazon prohibits them from using this information for any other purpose than providing storage and backup services to Encount. Our storage servers are physically located in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Digital Ocean) and Dublin, Ireland (Amazon Web Services). However, if you yourself choose to share information stored on generated by this Service via other services such as Facebook, Twitter, email or similar, we can not be held responsible for the use or disclosure of that information. We will not provide Facebook or any other service with information about your use of this Service or activities or information you provide to this Service unless you give your express permission. We advise you to read these respective services´ privacy policies before making information available through those services. It is important to be aware that no security system is completely secure so we can not guarantee that information on this Service or information transmitted to or from this Service can not be intercepted or accessed by outside parties.
We collect two types of information from you.
This information will be analyzed by us and reported to our clients, but always in aggregated and anonymized form. This means that no one except Encount will be able to connect your name and profile to the information you provide. This is to protect your privacy and to ensure this information is not abused.
You are required to register with your name, email address, telephone number, age, gender and country of residence in order to participate in activities on this Service. This is to enable us to communicate with you, verify your age and to invite you to relevant activities that fit your profile. We will also ask you to answer additional questions about yourself to complete your profile. These questions are voluntary, but are intended to improve your experience from using the Service as they will give you more relevant invitations to Activities, and will provide us and our clients with more knowledge about the profile of our Service users. We also ask and encourage that you upload a photo of yourself to accompany your profile, but this is voluntary. The purpose of this Service is to gather information, so all activities that you participate in such as (but not limited to) surveys, discussion forums, chats and diaries will ask you to provide information. All are voluntary and in most cases you will earn a reward in the form of points or other prizes for your contribution.
We may collect and store information generated automatically when you use the Service, especially the Mobile App. This includes your location based on your phones gps. We will then receive signals at certain intervals telling the Service where you are. You can control whether this function is turned on or off, and may turn it on or off at any time you choose by going to "Settings" in the Mobile App menu. Keeping it on will enrich your experience of using the Service and Mobile App as it will enable us to send you more relevant offers, activity invitations and rewards based on your location. We have designed the Mobile App so that this functionality will not drain your battery unnecessarily. If you choose to connect to the Service via Facebook, Facebook will provide us with your name, age, gender and city where you live if you have provided that information to Facebook.
We will analyze all information provided by you in this Service and collate and compare it with similar information provided by other users of the Service. The purpose is to help you, our clients and Encount learn more about your opinions, preferences and habits and that of others as well.
We will share aggregated information and reports with our clients, such as for example statistical summaries of your answers together with the answers of other users or summaries of discussions in forums or chats. We do not connect the information you provide with your name or identity to anyone outside Encount. We do not share any information that may identify you as a person and we will only share information on an anonymous, aggregate level to outside parties such as our clients, media or others. Your photo and other forms of identification will also never be used to connect to your information to outside parties. However, other users of the Service will be able to see your photo, first name, age and city of residence in discussion forums and chats in order to identify who they are interacting with. We encourage you to not share private or personal information in chats or forums our Service.
We will use the information you provide us to send you rewards, offers and invitations to activities. This enables us to provide you with the most relevant content, incentives and rewards, and the more information you provide, the more precise the invitations, rewards and offers you receive will be. We will never send you unsolicited or non-relevant invitations, offers or rewards and will never sell access to your information or to this Service to any third parties for the purpose of marketing or sales.
If you accept push notifications on your device where you have installed the Mobile App, we will sometimes send you notifications to let you know about new activities that are available to you including those related to your current location if you have enabled location services (GPS).
Our databases are located within the European Union. By using the Service, you are consenting to our processing of the information we collect, as described in this Privacy Statement as it may be amended from time to time. “Processing” includes collecting, storing, combining, and disclosing information as described in this Privacy Statement, all of which take place in the EU. If you reside outside the EU, your information will be transferred to the EU and processed and stored there under EU privacy standards. By using the Service and providing information to us, you consent to such transfer to, and processing in, the European Union. Since our hosting providers are United States companies, they adhere to both U.S. Safe Harbor laws (DMCA, etc) and EU laws.
We may occasionally release information about users of the Service if required to do so by law or if, in our judgment, such disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, to enforce our Terms of Use or to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of users of the Service, visitors to our website, our employees, consultants, vendors, sponsors, or others. In the unlikely event that we sell some or all of our assets, information about our users may be among the transferred assets.
